SUBWOOFER:
Since AVI's beginning, the first 6-7 years the only subwoofer series were the SL Series. This line is not only the one that single handedly brought AVI it's reputation. Most important is the ability of this model to produce high power handling and sound quality. Never before has there been a subwoofer design that places emphasis on efficiency and precise response. Up until now, the SL Series remain in the elite subwoofer class all over the world. It has gone through 3-4 generations of slight improvements to bring them to near-perfect car audio subwoofers.
Through the success of the SL Series, the EL Series spawned from consumer demand of a less expensive line. In the recent years, the market demand and trend has been towards small sealed enclosures. This led us to develop the new entry-level SS (Small Seal) Series subwoofers. However, AVI's target group of consumer have always been extremely high-end individuals. That is why the SLS Series was created to maintain audio excellence while allowing the line to be used in small sealed or ported enclosures. AVI's mission statement has always been to design speakers for sound quality as first priority, and not for SPL. However, when it comes to power handling, all of AVI's subwoofers are more than able to handle high power outputs. For example, GX-300 (12") subwoofer can handle over 1000 W RMS!

EL-250, 250 mm (10")
The AVI EL Series are hand built in our own facility in Canada, using the finest components in the world, and designed with high fidelity as the primary criterion. It is a fortunate coincidence that designing subwoofers for musical accuracy also makes them capable of stunning output levels.EL Series subwoofers are optimized for small vented enclosures, and may also be successfully applied in 6th order bandpass enclosures or with aperiodic membranes. Alternative enclosures are also possible, and AVI dealers can provide information on enclosure design and construction. The EL series is a less expensive version of the SL series. It is still a very good sounding subwoofer, with a 60 oz magnet, 24 K gold plated terminals, cast aluminum frame, and a 2" voice coil. It is also for use in a ported enclosure. The suggested operating range for the EL-250 is 33 to 600 Hz, and 26 to 500 Hz for the EL-300. |

GS-300, 300 mm (12")
This model is similar the SL-300, but it has a different frame, cone, and rubber edge. The GS-300 can achieve lower bass than the SL300. |
 |
GX-300, 300 mm (12")
The GX-300 should actually be named: Monster 300! It is a 12" subwoofer with massive double magnets stacked to a total of 130 oz. Inside, a 3" voice coil and a double damper is what makes this subwoofer a powerhouse. It is designed for having huge amounts of power thrown at it, which makes it very popular in SPL competitions. It will handle over 1000 W RMS! |

SL-170, 170 mm (6.5")
The SL Series subwoofers have been a very strong line since the beginning of AVI. It has gone through over 5 generations of modifications in the past 10 years. Today, this line is just as popular as when it was first sold, because they are still the most powerful and highest sound quality subs on the market. However, their intended use is strictly for ported enclosures or bandpass boxes. |

SL-500, 250 mm (10")
To achieve well extended, satisfying low bass from very small enclosures has long been a challenge for car audio manufacturers. AVI's radical new SL-500 meets the challenge, with a major departure from conventional thinking.
Mounting depth has been substantially reduced by positioning two magnets within the chassis, instead of one on the back. Dual voice coils allow maximum flexibility and are wound on a composite polyamide former for high power handling and output. The cone material is deeply convoluted to increase its tortional rigidity, and the SL-500 front suspension is the first in the world to use anechoic rubber material, to provide improved definition. This is a dual voice coil subwoofer driver with an extremely shallow mounting depth of just 92 mm (3.6"). It may be connected in parallel (2 ohms), series (8 ohms) or at 4 ohms each from two amplifier channels (not recommended). The suggested operating range is 45 to 430 Hz.For "stealth" installations, the remarkably small enclosure required for the SL-500 dramatically increases the number of practical mounting locations in any vehicle. |

SLS-250, 250 mm (10")
It took AVI many years to develop a subwoofer for sealed and vented enclosures. The SLS-250 can be used in a small sealed box of just 0.4 cubic foot. The most noticeable physical feature is the magnets (which are approximately 100 oz together) used to power the subwoofer. Hidden within, is a massive 65 mm (2.6") voice coil. The suggested operating range for this sub alone is 28 to 550 Hz. |

SLS-300, 300 mm (12")
If you are obsessed with extremely low bass, then the SLS-300 would be the subwoofer of choice. It is recommended for very low bass in a sealed box enclosure. The most noticeable physical feature is the magnets (which are approximately 100 oz together) used to power the subwoofer. Hidden within, is a massive 65 mm (2.6") voice coil. The suggested operating range is 27 to 550 Hz. |

SS-250, 250 mm (10")
The intention of the SS-250 was to create a relatively affordable subwoofer that would still out-perform the average 10 or even 12 inch subwoofer out in the market. The result was a "Best Buy" subwoofer in the car audio industry. A heavy duty cast aluminum frame with cavity vents, a 2" two layer heavy copper voice coil, a 1098 g (38.7 oz) magnet, and 24 K gold plated terminals are just some of the parts that go into this "entry level" subwoofer. It has a 400 W peak and are offered in either 4 or 8 ohms. Four 4 ohm subs can be bridged to 1 ohm to achieve a low frequency of just 16 Hz! As well, three 8 ohm subs bridged to 2 ohm will allow for the sub to be used in a 0.4 cubic foot sealed enclosure. The suggested operating range for this sub alone is 32 to 550 Hz. |
 |
SS-300, 300 mm (12")
The SS-300 is essentially the same as the SS-250, except for its size which yields bigger power output, and lower frequencies. However, it will require larger enclosure sizes, and it will not be able to be bridged to be used in a 0.4 cubic foot sealed enclosure. The suggested operating range for this sub alone is 28 to 550 Hz. |
